Windsong was saved from shipping to slaughter in July 2023. It’s hard to say whether she had ever experienced kindness or responsible care from humans. It’s possible she came from a reservation, but wherever she was from she ended up as “bucking stock.” Whether her obvious (and not so obvious) injuries landed her in the hands of a kill buyer is not known, but most likely she was either dumped at an auction or some ranch deals directly with the slaughter buyer. It’s not surprising she was skeptical of humans, and not inclined to trust. It was a “big deal” that she even let our rescue coordinator touch her briefly. Perhaps she knew that someone finally meant her kindness and care.
