Scottie
Scottie was rescued during July 2024 after being dumped by his last owner and ending up bought by a kill buyer. He likely continued his days of being neglected and suffering as more dominant horses on the feedlot would have gotten most of the food and even water.
Scottie’s initial veterinary exam detailed the following:
“Poor body condition and poor dentition at approximately 25 years of age. Several teeth missing in cheek teeth arcades and incisors are at different heights and degrees of usability. Body condition score 2.5 (of 10) with prominent bony protrusions. Skin and hair coat in poor condition with extensive dermatitis throughout, especially on distal limbs.
Pronounced unilateral stringhalt gait of the right hind leg, but intermittent in severity and presentation when walking in a straight line and circled in both directions.”
Scottie was humanely euthanized when it was determined his quality of life could not be improved to alleviate physical pain from further evaluated conditions.
