Lola
Lola was rescued in July 2024 after ending up owned by a kill buyer and was suffering on the lot where she would have been unable to fend for herself to obtain any food, not much water and had no shelter from blistering hot summer conditions.
Lola’s initial veterinary exam included the following information:
“Emaciated mare with body condition score of 2.5 (of 10) with a chronic, unattended left hind hock wound of unknown chronicity. Wound appears to be chronic and untreated. Mid-hock skin is deeply abraded with hair missing, apparently from a linear structure like wire fencing. The wound to the dorsal aspect of the distal hock may communicate with the joint, and present a septic joint problem. Lameness is graded at 2/5 in a straight line.
Lola is swaybacked and has few remaining teeth.”
Lola was retired to live out her life with the rescue and will be humanely euthanized when management of her physical disabilities is non-viable.
