Lincoln
Lincoln was rescued during July 2024 after being sent to an auction where a kill buyer purchased him, and given strong pain medication until seen by a veterinarian.
His initial veterinary exam revealed the following as part of the results:
“4/5 lame on right hind leg, unable to complete stance phase of stride in right hind and short-stepping onto left hind abruptly. Moderate right hind stifle effusion. Lateral collateral ligament enlarged, thickened, spongy and palpably sore. Stifle joint opens abnormally wide at the cranial aspect when the leg is at rest and propped on the toe. Lincoln is palpably sore within the exposed tibial plateau when palpated through the skin near where the meniscus and cruciate ligaments reside.”
Additionally, “left hind prominent swelling and palpable pain at the proximal insertion of the suspensory ligament. The abnormal laxity of the right stifle paired with the chronic damage of the left proximal suspensory suggest a chronic, non-healing right stifle injury and secondary damage to the left hind leg suspensory apparatus.”
Lincoln was humanely euthanized after further evaluation which determined a poor quality of life prognosis and no options for pain management due to significance of past injuries.
