Desiree
Desiree was rescued during July 2024 after being sent to an auction where a kill buyer purchased her. She was in poor condition and extremely lame.
Desiree was given a strong pain medication post rescue and received a full veterinary exam which identified some of the following:
“Under conditioned with bilaterally symmetrical muscle atrophy over topline, thorax, and neck. Overgrown feet with top 2 inches showing banded growth ring pattern. Severe bilateral rocking horse stance, characteristic of acute laminitis. Unable to pick up feet due to discomfort. Unable to pick out feet or clean feet for “cleaner” radiographs and placing feet on a block for Xrays would be inhumane due to the horse’s degree of pain.”
Noted also were arthritic changes in joints with pronounced sidebone on the medial side of the fetlocks.
Desiree was retired to live out her life with the rescue.
