Jordy
Jordy was rescued from the slaughter pipeline in October 2024. He was severely lame with arthritic knees and the left hind was significantly damaged with nasty changes to the navicular bone from past severe trauma.
Veterinary exam indicated 4/5 lame on the right hind leg. Both hind legs have sustained severe scarring at the coronet band. Hooves show residual growth which is ridged, brittle and compromised in areas where the coronet band is scarred.
Both carpi show visual signs of lumps/hard swellings and ROM (range of motion) of both carpi are decreased (worse on left).
Xrays revealed OA (osteoarthritis) changes and calcification of flexor tendons in the right hind coronet area. Xrays of left carpus indicate chronic remodeling of all three carpal joints with calcification in the proximal suspensory ligament.
Jordy clearly had been suffering for years; it is disgusting and inhumane what happened to this lovely horse (as with any horse) from an ignorant, uncaring owner(s).
The only compassionate option was to provide Jordy with humane euthanasia.
