Crystal was rescued in October 2024 from entering the slaughter pipeline as she had been yet another example of a horse used up, cast off and forgotten.

It was clear she was suffering from old injuries and chronic lameness, making it hard to imagine what was being done with her as part of the lameness was lifelong.

Her veterinary exam indicated the following:

Crystal has foreleg scarring on both front pasterns; each foreleg is severely club-footed and upright. There is scarring affecting her heels and coronet bands as well as the tissue overlying the caudal suspensory apparatus.

Xray diagnostics showed bony proliferation of the caudal pedal bone with extensive soft tissue scarring and thickening in the caudal pastern area.

Prognosis was very poor to offer relief from pain/suffering; Crystal was humanely euthanized.
