Hawkeye is one of dozens of horses rescued from the slaughter pipeline from late September 2019 through early November 2019. He is an older Quarter horse gelding who worked until he was “used up” and then cast off at some low-end auction, only to be purchased by a kill buyer. Hawkeye is a very sweet, kind, easy-going horse who gets along with everyone. He was malnourished upon arrival and had trouble eating due to a total lack of dental care. While he has some arthritic changes he has manageable lameness and will more than likely be kept as part of our retired herd.

Update: Hawkeye successfully completed his rehabilitation and was retired to live out his life with the rescue.
