Cherry joined the rescue in January 2019 when her owner was unable to care for her horses any longer. She had been unable to find a safe home for the horses and desperately needed help due to her own worsening and serious medical issues. Cherry is in her early twenties and has shown some spunk to her personality. She will be undergoing evaluation for any potential physical issues (we suspect navicular) and then training evaluation will begin when appropriate.

Update: Cherry underwent additional veterinary exam with X-rays and other diagnostics for suspected navicular disease and/or arthritic changes/issues. X-rays revealed a bone cyst in her right front fetlock area along with very advanced navicular disease changes in both front hooves. The edges of the navicular bones were very jagged with a lot of pitting in the bones. Cherry also showed varying degrees of changes in the hock and stifle joints causing stiffness in her hind end. She has been retired to live out her life with the rescue.
