Bureau of Land Management to Decimate Wild Horse/Burro Herds

Just recently, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) released an updated roundup and removal schedule for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024.
The BLM now plans to add 22 more roundups for FY 2024, which drastically increases the total number of wild horses and burros being rounded up from 8,000 to over 20,000!

In other words, the BLM has just more than doubled the number of wild horses and burros who were initially targeted for capture.

These newly updated numbers match the number of wild horses and burros rounded up during Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 — sadly, a record year for roundups.

Wild horse and burro roundups cause terror, trauma, injuries and even death. They are unnecessary and all advocates must join together to fight against the Bureau of Land Management’s long-time “manage to extinction” policy like never before.
