Tristan was found after being run thru a low-end auction and rescued to prevent him from heading to slaughter. It was clear that he was crippled and was very stressed.

Given time to settle in a quiet environment, it was discovered some training had been done for Tristan so that he was able to be haltered, led and trailer loaded.

Sadly the initial vet exam did show he’d suffered his entire life from a congenital deformity which only worsened over time. This neglect over the years left Tristan severely crippled and in constant pain not only from the deformity, but from all of the compensation his physical structure had to do with any sort of movement.

It was decided that the only responsible and compassionate thing to do was to provide humane euthanasia. Note that it is possible whoever had Tristan at birth could have provided medical care to fix the initial deformity. And at the very least, whoever had this horse and saw/knew what this untreated deformity did should have given him compassionate care via humane euthanasia.

More details will be posted once we receive the veterinary evaluation.
