Grayson came to the rescue in late 2010 after being removed from his owner by animal control. He was evaluated by a veterinarian and a treatment plan to meet his current and ongoing health needs was implemented.

Grayson was 2 years old at the time and after settling in he began training assessment. He was provided groundwork and other skills appropriate for his age. Over the months, he blossomed into a beautiful young gelding and was eventually adopted to a qualified home in May 2011.

In January 2025, we were notified that Grayson had been given to a new home (around 2023) and that home could no longer keep him. After being in contact with the former adopter and the new owner, a plan was created to return Grayson to Front Range Equine Rescue’s care.

Grayson began settling into his new situation with ease; he will be under medical evaluation and treatment as there are health issues which need diagnosis and treatment protocols. He is in good weight and very outgoing (enjoying meeting new horse friends).

Grayson will remain with the rescue for life. His last owner had another horse she had purchased (Honey) who also needed to be safely placed. Front Range Equine Rescue was able to take in Honey so the pair did not have to be separated.

Grayson underwent further veterinary evaluation and had his dental, Coggins test, and check for parasites. Overall, he appears healthy.
But as expected, he had dental issues due to incorrect care.
The vet reported that Grayson is likely 17 years old; his teeth had very sharp points, ventrally curved incisors, hooks on several teeth, a wave pattern and also a step pattern to certain teeth. He will need to be examined and done again in 8 months.
Hooks, sharp points and other issues are not only very painful, but cause difficulty with chewing and processing feed. Imagine being so hungry but having to ensure discomfort to severe pain every time you eat!
