Canadian Slaughterhouse Closed!

Never again will horses endure the extreme brutality and gross abuse from Bouvry Exports horse slaughter plant in Alberta, Canada. This vile industry has no place in America or elsewhere.

Animals’ Angels has just released the confirmed report that the Bouvry Exports horse slaughter plant in Alberta, Canada has officially closed, for good!

From their newly released report, Animals’ Angels has stated:

Since 2007, Animals’ Angels has documented abuse connected to Bouvry’s operations. We were the first organization to expose conditions at the Bar S Feedlot in Shelby, Montana, filing complaints that led to the first official inspections of the property.

Over the years, we continued investigating Bouvry’s operations in both Montana and Alberta — documenting suffering, exposing cruelty, and keeping pressure on the horse meat industry.

This victory would not have been possible without our longtime partnership with Tierschutzbund / Animal Welfare Foundation. Together, we helped expose the realities of the horse meat trade to European authorities, importers, retailers, and consumers.

A horse’s hell on earth is finally gone.

But our work is not over. We are now turning our focus to the last remaining horse slaughter plant in Quebec — Viandes Richelieu.
