Epic
Epic was rescued in July 2026 in desperate need of medical attention. He’s a large bay gelding with a severely ulcerated eye causing him a great deal of distress and pain. His constant head bobbing and tossing was highly indicative of significant inflammatory pain.
Upon rescue, he was given pain killers to try to alleviate any amount of pain possible and taken to a local veterinary clinic. The diagnosis was grim as expected. His eye was basically destroyed by a massive tumor and removal was not an option.
Epic also suffered from front end lameness which would have been further investigated if there had not been the massive ocular tumor.
He was humanely euthanized in a quiet setting. It’s a shame that a former owner might have done something to help this horse at the very start of an eye issue. Instead Epic had been dumped at some low-end auction where his next stop would have been entering the slaughter pipeline.
