Rescued Horses
Dancer - the horse that started it all:
“A horse,
a horse, my kingdom for a horse.”
From Hilary Wood - "For those of you who don't know me, Dancer was my
inspiration for starting Front Range Equine Rescue (FRER), which is a 501
(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to stopping the abuse and neglect of horses. Please read our story....

Mayzie: 18 month old filly rescued from local auction. Mayzie had a fairly fresh injury to her right foreleg which has healed nicely. She was afraid of people but has since become curious and friendly. She is being taught ground manners, trailer loading, de-spooking. Available for an experienced owner to bring her along.
Whiskey: bay gelding rescued from a local auction where the majority of the horses are bought by a kill buyer. Whiskey will get his medical and farrier needs updated during March. It is hoped he will regain close to 200 pounds to be normal weight again. Once healthy, he will undergo training assessment. It is hoped he will make a nice family horse.
Daisy: is a registered paint mare dumped at auction where she was bought for kill. Lucky for Daisy, the kill buyer overheard another rescuer on the phone with FRER and offered to let FRER purchase her. The former owner claimed Daisy lost her eye when she was “fighting” over a fence with a mule and her eye was poked by a t-post. It’s apparent Daisy missed about a year’s worth of farrier care.
Zorro: 3 year old stud colt rescued at a local auction in early 2008. Once assessed to be healthy enough, Zorro was gelded and other medical needs updated. He had some basic handling but was still very green. After a couple of months in the rescue, he is being started under saddle and available for adoption to an experienced home that can continue his training. He’s very smart and learns quickly with the right person.
